Batteries and charging

  • LFP (37 kWh): cheaper, cobalt-free and durable; charges at up to 90 kW DC, 10–80% in about 23 minutes.
  • NMC (52 kWh): more energy and range; 10–80% in about 24 minutes.
  • V2L: powers external devices with up to 3.6 kW.

Interior and assistance

The cabin offers a roughly 10-inch digital cluster and a 13-inch touchscreen, with physical buttons back for key functions. The optional Connected Travel Assist can detect traffic lights, but the driver remains responsible at all times. Unlike earlier ID models, the motor drives the front wheels. The 37 kWh battery is offered with 85 kW (116 PS) or 99 kW (135 PS), and AC charging at home runs at up to 11 kW, enough to fill the battery overnight. Running costs are low if you mostly charge at home, while public fast charging can be considerably more expensive.

Key terms

  • MEB+: Volkswagen Group's upgraded EV platform.
  • WLTP: standard test cycle; real range is lower in winter and on motorways.
