In short: Laptops with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X2 Elite are now on sale in Germany. In ComputerBase's test, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x Gen 11 was the fastest Windows notebook it has measured. Notebookcheck found the Asus Zenbook A14 with X2 Elite ahead of an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H (Panther Lake) laptop in performance and battery life. Prices start around €810 for models with the smaller X2 Plus; X2 Elite machines usually cost from about €1,600.
Arm or x86?
Intel and AMD use the classic x86 architecture, while Qualcomm builds efficient Arm chips like those in phones. Software compatibility under Windows on Arm has improved a lot, but some limits remain.
Snapdragon X2 Elite tested
The large X2 Elite has 18 Oryon 3 CPU cores. ComputerBase calls it the fastest processor for Windows notebooks, with better single-core performance than Panther Lake. The GPU is stronger than before but not enough for demanding games; ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 is a struggle. The test unit with a 2.8K OLED, 32 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD costs €2,169, stays quiet and has three USB4 ports.
Yoga Slim 7x Gen 11 configurations
The 14-inch notebook ranges from the X2 Plus with 16 GB of soldered LPDDR5X RAM to the X2 Elite with 32 GB. Every version uses OLED, either 1,920 × 1,200 at 60 Hz or 2,880 × 1,800 at 120 Hz. It has a 70 Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a 9.2-megapixel webcam with Windows Hello and weighs from 1.17 kg. ComputerBase praises the keyboard but would have liked a haptic touchpad at this price.

| Zenbook A14 | Prestige 13 AI+ | |
|---|---|---|
| Chip | Snapdragon X2 Elite | Core Ultra 9 386H |
| Price | about €1,600 | about €1,500 |

The Asus was ahead in almost all CPU tests and about 70 percent faster in 3DMark graphics, though its battery is larger.
Buying tips
Check that your software, printer drivers and games run on Windows on Arm; if in doubt, choose Intel or AMD. Get at least 16 GB of RAM, since it is usually soldered. Look for USB4 or Thunderbolt. Prices may change quickly because memory costs have risen sharply, see our memory price report. Gamers should consider a gaming PC instead. More in the Windows laptops section.
