In short: On 3 September 2026, Philips Hue announced a long list of new products. Highlights are the Play Screen Sync TV camera for €119.99, a new Play HDMI Sync Box 4K for €149.99 and cuttable Play Gradient Lightstrips from €99.99. There are also new indoor and outdoor lights and AI automations for the Bridge Pro from early October. A backup feature and Sonos integration will follow later. A new Wall Light Module for €39.99 also brings Nanoleaf panels into the Hue system.
TV sync: three options
- Play Screen Sync (€119.99): a camera mounted on the TV that reads the picture. Works with any source, including smart TV apps.
- Play HDMI Sync Box 4K (€149.99): reads the HDMI signal directly, has one input, works via Bluetooth without a bridge, and supports up to ten lights with a bridge.
- Cuttable Play Gradient Lightstrip (from €99.99): can be trimmed to size, with a version for TVs up to 100 inches.

AI, backup and Sonos
Custom AI Behaviours for the Bridge Pro let you describe automations in plain language, starting early October 2026. Existing automations keep working. A backup and restore feature is coming later, and a Sonos integration is due via software update in November 2026, according to IMTEST.
Setup tips
Place lamps left and right of the TV plus a strip behind it, aimed at a light wall. Assign every lamp to a room in the app to simplify automations and voice commands. Keep the bridge and lamp firmware up to date, since new features such as the AI automations need current software. LED lamps use little power, but standby consumption adds up with many lamps. The new Wall Light Module also lets Nanoleaf panels join Hue scenes, automations and entertainment setups, and starter sets with compatible panels from €199.99 are planned in selected markets.
Should you upgrade?
Without a bridge, Bluetooth products are a cheap start. For the AI features you need the Bridge Pro. If you mostly stream on the TV, Screen Sync is practical; for consoles, the HDMI Sync Box is more precise. Hue also supports Matter, explained in our smart home overview.
